RESEARCH
We are committed to research on improving education in schools through music, movement and play.
The learning resources and teaching methods we continue to develop have evolved through a culture of ongoing innovation and co-design.
LaLaFolk, our first educational project based on teaching English through music and Catalan traditions, grew out of a process of co-creation with local schools and English teachers in Catalonia. Musician, language teacher and Language graduate Genevieve Shaw created LaLaFolk with English teacher and head of a schools group, Laia Gonzalez Prat. All the songs and materials were co-designed and piloted in the schools with creative imput from the students.
Since creating the LaLaFolk resources, a study has been conducted by the Univeristy of Barcelona on the efficacy of using music-based teaching in primary school, specifically using LaLaFolk music-based resources. The study found that 80% of students learned more effectively with music (link to study).
We continue to carry out our own research and welcome the opportunity to collaborate on research projects connected with innovation in education.
