LaLaOpenEdu Methods

Three structured, music-based approaches for children aged 2–12

LaLaLittleKids.png
a structured, music-based method, co-designed with schools in Catalonia, to help children aged 2–5 acquire everyday English naturally. It focuses on key early language such as greetings, numbers, colours, days and months, weather, emotions, and simple routines that are relevant to young children. The method has been used by its creators in schools, playgroups, and at home by parents with their children. The songs are available on Spotify and YouTube, and LaLaOpenEdu provides members with free guided resources from the method each month.

LaLaKids: (8-12 years)

a music- and game-based approach to learning English for older primary children. It continues the LaLaLittleKids method, but with more mature songs, richer language, and activities that match older children’s interests and experiences. The method also includes collaborative co-creation projects, where students actively participate in writing and recording songs, giving them meaningful opportunities to use English in creative, real-world contexts.

LaLaFolk: (3-12 years)

a music-based method for children aged 3–12 to connect English with Catalan heritage and culture. LaLaFolk was co-created with primary school students and the director and English teacher at the Zer Vent d'Avall, Laia Gonzalez Prat. Launched in 2020 and still active today, it uses Catalan cultural traditions—like Sant Jordi, Carnival, and summer festivals—combined with engaging, original songs and resources to help children talk about their own experiences in English. The method includes a digital platform with teaching materials such as images, videos, playbacks, worksheets, sheet music, flashcards, games, and activities. Tested in over ten schools, the method is supported by university research showing 80% of students improved learning when LaLaFolk materials were used.
